Millennials are staying married longer

According to new research data analysis done by a sociology professor Philip Cohen, from the University of Maryland, there has been an 18 percent drop on divorce rate in the U.S. between 2008 and 2016. ‘Generation X’ and ‘Millennials’ have a lower divorce rate than ‘baby boomers,’ whose divorce rates continue to be high, tripling for those of ages 65 or older.

Professor Cohen says that today “Marriage is more and more an achievement of status, rather than something that people do regardless of how they’re doing.”
