NASA reestablished contact with Voyager 2, over 11.6BN miles away

NASA has successfully reestablished contact with a spacecraft launched over 40 years ago in 1977. Voyager 2 spacecraft has traveled more than 1.6 billion miles from earth according to NASA.
Contact with the probe went silent for the past 7 months due to maintenance repairs that needed to be made on it’s antenna.
Deep Space Station 43 (DSS43) antennas were used to send a series of commands by mission operators.
Voyager 2 eventually received the commands and even sent back the reply, ‘hello.’
