New York is brought to an immediate halt during the coronavirus pandemic, leaving the entire state shut down in an effort to protect residents from the infectious virus.

New Yorkers are only allowed to leave their homes for essential business.

Workers not involved in essential business are being advised to stay home, as ordered by Gov. Andrew Cuomo.

Civil fines and mandatory closure will be imposed on businesses not in compliance.
